Twickenham Stadium to host 2021 European rugby cup finals

Twickenham Stadium announced today it will host its first event of 2021, after COVID uncertainty.

European Professional Club Rugby (EPCR) and the Rugby Football Union (RFU) announced this morning that the stadium will host the 2021 Heineken Champions and Challenge Cup finals.

The Challenge Cup decider is scheduled for Friday 21st May and the Heineken Champions Cup final will go ahead on Saturday 22nd May.

Dogs of Wandsworth come together for some pawsome fundraising

An independent charity in Wandsworth have started a new type of pawsome fundraiser, to raise vital funds needed to fight the pandemic.

Age UK Wandsworth have organised a dog walking fundraiser, called the Waggy Walk, in which you can raise money on your daily dog walk.

Dogs across London are sporting their Age UK bandanas, spreading the word for the charity.

Emma Chisholm, Community and Wellbeing Leader at Age UK, believes this to be a vital fundraiser in helping the elderly in Wandsworth.

Five-year-old boys complete a marathon each for Dons Local Action Group

Two five-year-old boys from Putney each completed a marathon and raised over £3500 for a community group in Wimbledon.

George Nicholson and his best friend Edward Wilcox-Ericcson covered the distance in aid of Dons Local Action Group, who supply food packages for people who need them across south west London.

Over the course of one month the boys walked, hopped, skipped and cycled across London, ending at the Dons Local Action One Year Event at AFC Wimbledon’s Plough Lane Stadium on 20 March.

Online book of condolence for public to honour Prince Philip

An online book of condolence has been set up on the Royal website for the public to pay tribute to Prince Philip.

Those who wish to send their condolences to the Royal Family can do so on the Royal website.

However, due to the current lockdown rules the public will not be able to sign the physical book of condolence.

The public are advised to donate to charity rather than leave flowers.

Prince Philip had a lifelong passion for wildlife and supported various zoos, including ZSL London Zoo and WWF.

He was President of ZSL from 1960-1977 and an Honorary Fellow since 1977.

From opening exhibits, to setting up prestigious awards to encourage young conservationists, he had a huge involvement in making ZSL what it is now.
